Selena Gomez Just Debuted Waist-Length Hair and Wispy Bangs at NYFW
If you're going to publicly debut a new style, what better place to do it than at New York Fashion Week? Selena Gomez, it seems, is well aware of this. Though she was spotted sporting brand-new, wispy bangs late last week by photographers, the singer didn't publicly debut her new hairstyle (with the addition of a much longer length) until Tuesday while attending Coach's show at NYFW.
Gomez, who's an ambassador for and has designed a capsule collection of handbags with the brand, posed backstage in head-to-toe Coach. Her outfit was the perfect example of Coach's blend of girly and gritty styles: She wore a dreamy black-and-lavender maxi dress with a watercolor design and floral details topped with a classic black leather jacket with red detailing around the zippers on the sides and sleeves. It was her new hairstyle that stole the show, however. Gomez wore her newly waist-length hair — which has recently returned from a brief foray into platinum territory to its usual rich chestnut color — in soft waves, with her freshly cut bangs skimming her eyelashes and framing her face.
According to Vogue, the "Wolves" singer was first seen sporting the mini-makeover late last week. Last Wednesday, Gomez visited an IHOP restaurant in Los Angeles (and, curiously, left with one of their logo-emblazoned coffee mugs in hand) wearing a striped tee, black skirt, and those '70s-style, piece-y bangs. She pulled the rest of her hair back into a perfectly messy ponytail which made her bangs the focal point of the look. They're basically perfect curtain bangs — they reach down to her chin on either side and just barely cover her eyebrows at their shortest point. From pictures, however, it looks like she hadn't yet started playing with additional length.
Chances are very (very) good that we'll be seeing a lot more of these Brigitte Bardot–esque bangs now that style icon Selena Gomez has so expertly paved the way.
