We're here to help you choose your ideal Preferred hair ! Here we answer some most frequently asked questions about how to choose the right wigs for you.
Q1: Can I dye, bleach, or tone my Preferred Hair wig?Since our wigs are made of 100% Remy human hair, they can be dyed to a darker color or toned by a professional hair colorist who has had previous experience. If you do decide to get them dyed, we recommend for a small strand of hair to be tested first prior to dyeing/toning the full unit, to ensure that you are satisfied with the results. We strongly do NOT recommend getting the hair colored a lighter shade, as it will require them to be bleached. Bleaching might alter the quality, and even damage it.
If you are in-between shades, we recommend going for the lighter colour and taking your wig to a professional hair colorist to have it dyed to the darker shade in order to achieve an overall match. Similarly, if you have highlights, we recommend going for a shade that matches the lightest highlight in your hair, and having a professional hair colorist add in lowlights to your wig.
Kindly note, dyeing or toning hair may alter the structure of the hair, resulting in a shorter lifespan. Dyeing, toning, or bleaching Preferred Hair wigss is done at the customer's discretion.
Q2: What about using heat styling products on them?
Just like your own hair, our wigs can be straightened, blow-dried, styled and curled. In order to preserve and extend the lifespan of your wig, however, we suggest to use a heat protectant spray prior to styling your wig.
Additionally, we recommend to only use a low heat setting of 120C/250F, as anything higher runs the risk of damaging the hair. The reason why we recommend opting for a lower heat setting is because it will prolong the lifespan of your set. While our own hair may be able to handle a high heat setting, our hair is also constantly getting revitalized from the scalp, whereas the wigs don't get that sort of constant nutrition.
Q3: How long do your wigs last?
The lifespan of Preferred Hair wigs is determined by how well they are taken care of, what products are used on them, and how often they are worn. Usually, the lifespan of our wigs is 3-6 months up to a year or longer, depending on the general care they receive.
Q4: What are the difference between lace front wigs and full lace wigs?
A: Lace front wigs are half made by hand-tied and half made by machine, Full lace wigs are 100% made by hand-tied. Lace front wigs are more competitive in price, full lace wigs are more realistic and easier to make a ponytail.
Q5: Can I Restyle or Dye the Hair?
A: Yes. But we'd like to recommend you that too often restyling or dying the hair will dry it out. So, please make sure which kind of style or color do you like before you actually take action on it.
Q6: How often should I wash the wigs?
Wash and deep condition hair regularly, two weeks a time is OK. Always detangle the hair gently by hands before washing to prevent shedding.
Q7: How to dry the wig?
After saturating your wig in water, squeeze it dry. Don't wring it or the base of your wig could become misshaped.
Q8: How to comb the wig?
When you need to comb a wig, be gentle. Do not use a regular brush. For straight and body waves, a wide-tooth-comb is highly recommended. For curly and deep wave, please only use hand to prevent tangle. For stubborn tangles, applying a spray conditioner can help loosen them.
Q9: How to keep shape?
While you're sitting at home, take it off and put it on a wig stand. The stand will help with keeping the shape.
Q10: How to wash the wig?
After washing a wig, do not shake it in a towel. Be careful and dry it piece-by-piece. This makes sure that strands don't fall off. Also, never style your wig while it's wet. Even those wet-to-style hairstyles are known to damage your wig.
